If a water pipe breaks in your home, you need to act fast to avoid major damage. Firstly you should turn off your water supply using your stopcock usually located under your kitchen sink. Then immediately turn off your electricity in the affected room. Once you have done this try to remove as much furniture from the affected room that may suffer from water damage. You should then contact a plumber to get the burst pipe repaired. We would be happy to come and help you if you give us a call.

One of the most common household plumbing problems is a blocked or a slow running drain. Before calling a plumber, there are a few things you could try to ease the blockage. Firstly one method would be to use a plunger to try and loosen the blockage. The plunger will seal around the drain opening and once pushed down the pressure will increase in the pipe which in return pushes the water downwards. When you pull up, the suction reduces the pressure allowing the water to rise which will help flush the blockage away.

This method is usually very effective but if your drain is still running slowly try using a drain unblocking solution found in most supermarkets.
